Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration becauseit supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am so fortunate to be a pre-k teacher to 18 young super scholars! I absolutely adore what I do. What other career do you recive100 hugs a day? My children receive full day instruction, five days a week. I strive to create a warm, safe, sensory rich and developmentally sound environment where their unique learning needs are nurtured so that they will reach their greatest potentials and become lifelong learners.
My classroom is in desperate need of a classroom rug.
Each day my clever cookies spend their circle time and story time sitting on a cold, hard floor. We make the best of the situation; however, the children would be much more comfortable if we had a large rug to sit on. The rug will not only will provide comfort but will also be used as a classroom management tool, providing a stationary and defined spot for each of them to learn.
WHS is part of the Yonkers Public Schools. Our district is the fourth largest school district in New York state and has 27,000 students from over 100 cultures, and nationalities. Our district currently has 93% of its students receiving free or reduced lunch.
Our school has minimal funds to provide financial support for items needed to assist with our learning. With your help we will be able to have the materials that will allow our youngest learners to be comfortable in their learning environment and thrive!
